1 in 4 people worldwide will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives. 800,000 people die by suicide each year and it’s one of the leading causes of death in young people globally. At least 1 in 10 children have a mental health problem.
This session explores the role of Scouting by asking how we can safeguard young people, support those around us and raise awareness of mental health. It proposes that in order to provide a balanced non-formal education we need a deliberate and purposeful focus on mental health and wellbeing throughout Scouting.
